St. Finians College is a secondary school, the diocesan school of the Diocese of Meath.[1] It is located in Mullingar, County Westmeath, Ireland. Until 2003 it was an all boys boarding school. In 2003 the decision was made to phase out the boarding school by 2007 and to admit girls as well as boys . Rev. Fr. Paul Connell PhD is the president of the school..
At the moment there are 29 Schola students.[2] Gerard Lillis is the current director, having succeeded Shane Brennan in 2003.[2] The Schola have in the past few years had many successful performances at Áras an Úachtaran, Feis Ceoil (Dublin), Glenstal Abbey and the National Principals Conference held in Killarney. At the moment, instruments taught at the school include organ, piano, french horn, violin, viola, cello, trumpet, bassoon, oboe, clarinet, flute, as well as many others. Students currently come all over Ireland including Dublin, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Meath and Roscommon
Many schola graduates have become very successful musical directors, conductors, organists and performers.
